Hi everyone,
A new experimental build 0.30.00 has just been released!
This build features the return of the Quick Crafting Menu!
One of the community’s sorely missed features is back! Some players may recall when we removed the old quick crafting menu and replaced it with the larger list or book style menu. It received mixed reviews but was a necessary evil due to the sheer number of craftable combinations which resulted in the menu quickly becoming cumbersome to scroll through. The changed crafting menu was necessary and here to stay but we had always planned on reintroducing the Quick Crafting menu. The new Quick Crafting menu gets back to the roots of Stranded Deep’s crafting mechanics. It’s intended for quickly crafting objects that you know the materials for or maybe quicker crafting of the same object multiple times, like arrows. There are a lot of scenarios where you don’t need to open the large crafting menu to craft what you need.
To open the new Quick Crafting menu all you need to do is press and hold the crafting menu key [C] for a short moment, similar to the interacting mechanic. The Quick Crafting menu won’t display if you don’t have any craftable combinations from the materials in front of you or in your backpack.
If you press the crafting key [C] once without holding it, it will open the regular crafting menu. The larger style crafting menu will remain as a supplementary guide, listing all the possible crafting combos.
Similar to the large crafting menu, the Quick Crafting menu uses any tools in your hands to enable and prioritize combinations shown. For eg: if you have a Hammer equipped, the Quick Crafting menu will display any available building combinations first. Likewise, if you have a Hoe equipped farming combinations will be displayed first and so on.
The general crafting area/radius has been tightened also. The distance has been reduced and now only items in the area in front of you will count towards your crafting materials. This is important to remember, particularly for the Quick Crafting menu – If your available combos keep changing around as you move, this is more than likely why.
The Inventory now also displays an items health, durability or servings. An item’s health is represented by how ‘full’ the icon appears.
There’s also a few more smaller features like New Day Notifications and Damage Indicators that help add a bit more polish too.
Have fun!
