Greetings Terrarians!
A Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to each and every one of you from Team Terraria! We hope that everyone has found ample time to spend with family and friends during this time. That has been the focus of our team over the past couple of weeks - a good chance to rest and recharge for the push into what is to come in 2025. That said, we did take a few days away from the holiday celebrations for a quick playthrough on the new Skyblock seed. As with all of our playthroughs, shenanigans quickly followed: dev duels, Chippy vs Red for the CEO crown, even what has come to be known as "debug command battles" commenced over the course of the adventure. These are always not only a lot of fun, but also beyond useful in assisting with bug fixing and balance. We can't wait to see what you make of this seed when the update drops!
Let's see what is under the Terraria tree this year, shall we?
PC - RE-LOGIC
TERRARIA - FLOORS? WHERE WE'RE GOING WE WON'T NEED FLOORS…
As we mentioned in the introduction to this month's State of the Game, most of the team has been on Holiday break, spending time with family, getting some home projects done, things like that. Of course, then there is the madness that has been the Skyblock playthrough. Our goal with the Skyblock seed is to take a game format that is somewhat notorious for being grindy and for experts only and to make it at least a bit more approachable/accessible to a broader audience of players. As such, a lot of our time on this session was focused around balance (and bugs, of course). Skyblock is sort of its own set of rules and such, so a lot of care has to be taken to make sure it feels right.
That said, we had our usual share of trolling and craziness. The CEO crown changed hands more times than we can count via a variety of 1:1 duels between devs, testers, and more. We had more fun and insightful chats than we could recall in a long time - both trips down memory lane and gazing into the future. That said, we thought we might share a screen or two from our playthrough world just for your viewing pleasure.

WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON?
Gathering individual ideas and feedback for a planning session in January…
TMODLOADER NEWS - TML TEAM
Hello everyone!
The tModLoader team has had a bit of a slower month, as we take time to take a breath and relax to close out the year. We will be back at it in 2025, ready to take TML to the next level!
We'd like to remind modders about the preview branch where we test new features before they arrive in stable the following month. Modders interested in these new features, listed both on our GitHub and in the #preview-update-log of our Discord, can join the preview branch to get early access to the new features and test them in their mods. We really appreciate the feedback from modders using the preview branch to try out the new features.
Major features currently in preview (starting December 1st) include greatly improved enemy banner support and support for custom data sets. Please give them a test and let us know if you run into any issues.
Modders and users should also keep an eye out for our monthly Steam announcement on the 1st where a complete listing of bug fixes and API changes for this month's release will be listed. The in-game news button on the main menu will direct you directly to the announcement once it is live.
As always, if you are having issues of any sort, definitely don't hesitate to check out our FAQ on github or reach out to us at our Discord.
TMODLOADER STEAM WORKSHOP
The TML Steam Workshop has over 6000 mods for you to enjoy! Coupled with the in-game mod browser, the TML Steam Workshop is a great way to explore what modded Terraria has to offer - check it out today by clicking the banner above!
WHAT'S NEXT FOR TML?
More features, continuing to evolve and grow what TML can do… and getting ready for 1.4.5.
As always, you can keep track the current progress and much more in real time at tModLoader/tModLoader (But note that the completion percentage doesn't mean anything, because issues and PRs don't have weights.)
Developers who are willing to contribute may do so by doing PRs to the tModLoader/tModLoader branch. (See tModLoader/tModLoader)
PlayStation, XBOX, Nintendo Switch, Mobile - DR STUDIOS
The DR Studio teams have also been winding down for the Holidays - though our resident QA tester extraordinaire, Nescre, got a chance to join in on the Skyblock testing festivities. The only difference being that he was playing from both PC and Mobile..
We cannot wait to leap headlong into what 2025 has in store - it is shaping up to be a truly special year in the world of Terraria!

Until next time, Console & Mobile friends - thanks for all of your love and support!

TERRARIA - THE BOARD GAME UPDATE
Hello Terrarians!
Chris here, lead developer at Paper Fort Games. In this month’s Terraria: The Board Game designer diary, we’ve got a PAXU recap, new enemy and Crimson art, and a Christmas promo pack showcase.
If you missed the campaign but would like to get your hands on the game, don’t worry! Late pledges are now available by clicking the link below…

Let’s jump in!
PAX UNPLUGGED RECAP
From 6th to 8th December, we were demoing Terraria: The Board Game at PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia, PA. Thank you to everyone who visited the booth to play the game, check out the playmat and pick up a Town Slime balloon (as always, it was fun to see them bobbing about in the convention hall!)
It was lovely to meet backers in person, and to share the game with Terraria fans who weren't aware of the tabletop adaptation. We were very conveniently positioned just across from Contention Games, who recently published the Slay the Spire board game; lots of videogame fans visiting their booth also came to say hello to us!
Above; the booth set up and ready for the show. We managed to fit most of it in our hand and checked baggage, but had to sacrifice some clothes; thankfully Philly wasn't too cold!
When you’re busy at the booth all day, it’s easy to forget to take photos! A huge thank you to Lana (@navigatorlana on IG) who took the fantastic in-play shots of the demo and components below and gave us permission to share them.
Highlights of the convention included chatting with backers, a group of attendees who played the game on Friday and were kind enough to come back on Sunday to tell us that Terraria was their favourite demo of the convention, and playing the demo with a group of real-life Mermaids!
Did you play? Let us know in the comments!

ENEMIES AHEAD!
George recently finished up the art for all of the non-boss enemies in the game, which are featured on the game’s enemy tokens. As always, he’s done a fantastic job and we love his interpretation of the game’s sprites; here are some of our favourites!
From top left to bottom right: Tomb Crawler, Hell Bat, Vulture, Skeleton, Eater of Souls, Frozen Zombie, Crimera, Devourer, Antlion Swarmer, Fire Imp, Ice Bat.

COMPONENT SPOTLIGHT: CHRISTMAS PROMO PACK
As this is our December Update, it seems appropriate to show you some more of the Christmas Promo Pack, unlocked as a stretch goal during the Kickstarter campaign and included with all pledges.
Ugly Sweater: ‘Ugly’ is subjective, right? We think this knitted number is rather fetching, and it will look lovely overlaying your character card. It doesn’t do anything, but it does look cosy!
Candy Cane Sword: This sweet sword deals decent damage, as well as preventing enemy retaliation. Great for defeating mobs, or for cutting yourself a nice slice of Christmas cake… delicious!
Gingerbread Cookie: Not the gumdrop buttons! Discarding this tasty consumable will grant +1 mana, +1 defence, +1 action point and +1 damage; the perfect festive pick-me-up!
These Christmas items will be available in your games via the Present, an optional card that you can add to the base game chest cards.

MANUFACTURER UPDATE: INTRODUCING GAMELAND
We’re very happy to announce that we’ll be working with Gameland as our manufacturer for Terraria: The Board Game. Gameland have 16 years of experience in tabletop game manufacturing, and are well known for the quality of their products, including Too Many Bones and Cloudspire from Chip Theory Games and Mind MGMT from Off The Page Games.
They have been wonderfully communicative and very helpful in the prototyping of unusual components (such as our modular boss miniatures); the Gameland team are currently working on a wide variety of component samples for us and we’re looking forward to sharing them in a future update!
As well as component testing, we’re working closely with the Gameland team on pre-packaging options to ensure that games get to backers in pristine condition

CRIMSON BIOME DISCOVERED!
At the start of Terraria: The Board Game, as in the videogame, you’ll choose an evil biome; Corruption or Crimson (or randomly select one). So far, we’ve shared the art for Corruption, but George has recently been working on the Crimson biome tiles too; you can find a selection of the WIP art below!
We’ve added new critters too; which ones can you find on this selection of tiles?
—
Thank you to Re-Logic and the Terraria community for the support and enthusiasm in 2024; we couldn’t do it without you and we’re excited to share more about Terraria: The Board Game in 2025! Happy Holidays to those who celebrate; we hope you get to spend time with your families and loved ones over the festive season.
Remember; if you missed the campaign but would still like to get your hands on the game, late pledges are now available via the link below:
