Soulmask

Developer's Update: Major Update Preview - Fantastic Cheiftains

Hello, chieftains!

It's been two months since our first major update, "Evolution of Masks," and I bet we're not the only ones itching for some fresh changes in Soulmask!

Our second major update is coming soon, and the theme is "Fantastic Chieftains"! This update brings a lot of exciting features, from the Chiefs themselves to the new mysterious arena, and also the Steam Workshop that offers endless possibilities (you've probably seen our teaser on this already!). Soulmask will be filled with even more potential with this major update.

First up, I've got something special for all you bloodthirsty warriors out there—your very own battleground…

1. New Gameplay: Ancient Dungeon Arena

A new arena is opening soon for the chosen chieftains—loot, fight, and claim ancient blessings in this fierce arena…. This is part of the sacrifice.

That's right, a new battleground dedicated to PvP combat is coming soon. I know your weapons have been thirsty for action for a while now. In our second major update, "Fantastic Chieftains," we're introducing new building blueprints to everyone’s mask, including the most exciting one—the Arena Portal.

On official PvP servers, the Arena Portal will open at specific times each day, inviting every chieftain to enter. You'll dive into a completely randomized dungeon to claim relics from the ancient, mysterious civilization. But watch your back - other chieftains are after the same prize. Only one can walk away with the ultimate reward.

These dungeons, remnants of ancient times, are filled with dangers—twisting mazes, deadly traps, terrifying ancient Slayers, and Plunderers lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike. The heart of the dungeon hides its greatest threats.

There are many ways to survive: stay hidden and swoop in when the coast is clear, assist the dungeon monsters in taking down your competition, or just swing your weapon and cut down everyone in your way. But time is ticking—the deadly radiation walls are closing in, destroying everything in their path. Either you escape, or you die.

The abundance of rare ancient/mysterious gear and their precious repair kits in the dungeon's treasure chests make all the danger worthwhile—this is one of only two places in Soulmask where such weapons can be found. As for the 3rd-tier modify materials or other rare resources from the ruins, they might be overkill for ENDGAME players, but for newcomers? These could be game-changers—if you can make it out alive, that is!

A dangerous, treasure-filled PvP dungeon is thrilling for some, but not everyone enjoys constant bloodshed. Don't worry, we’ve got plenty of fun in store for those who prefer a different path!

2. New Feature: Skin Decoration

First, let’s answer this question: why the name "Fantastic Chieftains"?

You guessed it! Starting with "Fantastic Chieftains" update, we're finally making one of our long-time dreams a reality: letting chieftains change their look in countless ways. In the new version, allowing all our tribesmen to customize their appearance. The mask Decor Table will feature a new "Skin Decoration" option, letting you transform into any character from the three major tribes, from the lowliest laborer to the top boss.

Blueprints for these skins can be obtained from craftsmen in the three main tribes or found in chests guarded by BOSS. Once you learn a skin blueprint, you can craft the corresponding skins. Want your tribe's warriors to cosplay as a Retroreflector? Just remember, they won’t come with Retroreflector’s signature "Execution" move…

PvP enthusiasts, a heads-up! With this feature, you’ll never know if that scrappy warrior in ragged tribe gear is actually a top-tier fighter wearing the best armor. Never judge a book by its cover—assume everyone's a threat. We'll be keeping a close eye on how this system plays out, so hit us up with your feedback anytime.

This new feature is just the tip of the iceberg for the "Fantastic Chieftains" update. Brace yourselves for a slew of wild new buildings!

3. Tons of New Constructions!

New Construction: Chief’s Chair

We need more ways to maintain your Chiefs' majesty. How about a huge high-back chair? In the "Fantastic Chieftains" update, the "Chief’s Chair" will be your exclusive seat, highlighting your supreme status. Just remember to turn off the [Allow tribesmen to use] option, or… well, you might not like what happens.

New Construction: Treasure Bag/Treasure Chest

Concerned about losing all your treasures in tribal wars? Now, with Treasure Bags and Treasure Chests, you can hide your tribe’s emergency supplies underground. It’s your last line of defense, giving you a chance to rebuild if disaster strikes.

New Construction: Training Dummy

I know you’re tired of killing thousands of boars or bison to train your tribesmen’s weapon skills. In the "Fantastic Chieftains" update, our tribesmen have mastered advanced dummy-making techniques. Now, they can create new training dummies that help them improve their weapon skills over time.

New Construction: Mysterious Converter

Unofficial statistics reveal that 90% of tribes' storage boxes are always filled with various stones and branches collected by tribesmen. Most chiefs have moved past the "headache of how to deal with them" stage and just ignore this junk.

But what if I told you we could turn that trash into treasure?

Introducing our new construction, the “Mysterious Converter” This ancient technology can transform any material into Bloodstones, Blood Crystals, and other rare relic civilization artifacts! This machine, which once made the ancient civilization incredibly powerful, is now in your hands.

You can even set it up with your tribe's management system to keep your material stocks just how you like them. Too much of something? Your tribesmen will automatically toss the excess into the Mysterious Converter for a bit of "recycling magic."

New Construction: Hibernation Pod

Ever found the perfect legendary tribesmen, only to realize your mask's link limit is maxed out? Forcing you to kick that loyal buddy who's been with you since day one to the curb? Trust me, you're not alone in that heartbreak.

In the "Fantastic Chieftains" update, chiefs acquire advanced body-freezing technology from the mask, introducing a new construction: the low-temperature Hibernation Pod. This innovation lets you temporarily hibernate any barbarians that exceed the mask's maximum link limit. Think of it as your personal Valhalla—you can store your elite warriors and preserve old allies for a special occasion. You might even use it to discipline your tribesmen… though tossing them in front of a Vajra Ape might be more effective.

We hope these new features bring a fresh wave of excitement to Soulmask. And this is just the beginning—there’s more constructions to come!

See you on September 26th!

From the new and unpredictable threats in the random battlefields to the diverse looks introduced by the new costume system, and the endless possibilities offered by the Steam Workshop, we hope the "Fantastic Chieftains" major update brings a richer gaming experience to all chiefs.

And believe us, there's still more to come! Stay tuned for more details soon. See you on September 26th!
